Powers Irish Whiskey is Celebrating What Truly Matters with the launch of its second anthology of short stories of the same name in aid of the Irish Hospice Foundation.
A compilation of over 50 short stories, penned by writers from across the country, Celebrating What Truly Matters Powers Irish Whiskey Short Story Collection features a contribution from Tadhg O’Regan from Clonmel, ‘The Good Life’ was selected for inclusion from thousands of submissions for this special book. ‘The Good Life’ tells of a young Irish emigrant in Australia, a snapshot of the circumstances that brought him to paradise in search of the good life and the realisation that what really matters is 10,000 miles away. The anthology covers an array of subjects from love lost and won, ties that bond, mellower moments in time and the warmth of family and friendships. All reflect on a common theme, Celebrating What Truly Matters, inspired by a hugely popular campaign for Powers which ran in the 1980s based on conversations and short stories.
Powers is a great Irish brand which is found in many homes across the country and it was with this in mind that Powers wished to create a forum for the Ireland and the Irish of today to express and celebrate what truly matters to them. That forum was a nationwide competition which ran in the Irish Times Magazine in Spring 2012. Capturing the imagination of its readers, the competition generated a huge response, with over 4,000 entries from which the best were chosen to feature in this unique book.
In her introduction to Celebrating What Truly Matters Powers Irish Whiskey Short Story Collection, the late, great Maeve Binchy speaks of people’s expectations, hopes and dreams and the human desire in life to be needed and to know the security of love. Celebrating What Truly Matters Powers Irish Whiskey Short Story Collection is available to buy from Easons and Dubray books nationwide, The Old Jameson Distillery and Midleton Distillery stores and online from www.hospicefoundation.ie and www.powerswhiskey.com.
