On Saturday morning Leahy Park was the place to be as the Juvenile Club held its annual U.8 hurling blitz.
Teams from near and far descended on Cashel as Leahy Park came alive with a feast of hurling.
Our own club entered three teams, all very competitive in each of their games, further endorsing the huge work going on within our underage structures.
Local clubs Knockavilla Kickams, Rockwell Rovers were joined by Toomevara from North Tipperary while Drom & Inch joined us from Mid Tipperary.
Clubs that made longer journeys but travelled in force, were Clane of Kildare, Blarney of Cork, Monaleen and Ballybrown of Limerick. Once proceedings got underway at 10am the large crowds of supporters were treated to competitive games with no shortage of skills and determination. Every single boy got in on the action with "hurling' the real winner. Blitz's like this one do not happen overnight and a massive thanks to Declan Fitzgerald and his fellow coaches for planning meticulously and ensuring everything went off like clockwork and it certainly did. To our visiting clubs, it was a pleasure to have hosted you and we look forward to more titanic battles long into future. To everyone who helped out with teas and coffees and food, a massive thank you also, to those that helped mark out pitches, referee games and look after teams, you all ensure 'volunteerism' remains alive and well, again thank you.
Finally to our own players, you were all simply magnificent, transferring your coaching to the field of play is eye-catching and a joy to watch. Keep it up boys, the future of Cashel King Cormacs is bright and in good hands.
