The Source Arts Centre Gallery in Thurles will host an exhibition of work by Gavin Hogg and Catherina Hearne from Friday, March 20th to Saturday, April 25th.
A native of County Waterford but long based in Cork city, Catherina Hearne’s artistic practice encompasses sculpture, installation and painting. She has exhibited in Ireland and abroad and has received awards from the Irish Arts Council, Department of Foreign Affairs and Cork County Council. Her work is in the collections of the Office of Public Works, Dundalk UDC and Wexford Arts Centre as well as being represented in numerous private collections. Her work paintings present a visual feast of colour, surface and form. They reward careful investigation due to the complexity of layered information drawn from sources as diverse as religious iconography, contemporary fashion and architecture.
Gavin Hogg has been a practicing artist for over twenty-five years. He has exhibited widely in Ireland (EVA award winner’93) and his work is included in many public and private collections. Printmaking is also an important part of his practice, showing regularly in the graphic Studio Gallery, Dublin and participating in group shows in Berlin and London in 2012.
You can expect an explosion of colour and pattern from two contemporary Irish artists who make visually arresting work. The opening reception is on Friday, March 20th (6.30pm drinks for 7.00pm official opening). All welcome.
