On Friday evening last, 20 hardy walkers set off for a night ascent of Slievenamon and were rewarded with a clear starlit night.
Afterwards over a welcome pizza in Clonmel all agreed it had been a wonderful night with great views in all direction.

Special congratulation to Tom Cummins Moycarkey, who carried 21 month old Martha Cummins all the way to the summit, which surel
y makes Martha the youngest person to experience the top of Slievenamon in total darkness.

We return to the hills on Sun next, Mar 21, with a joint walk leaving for the Comeragh Mountains from outside Cashel firestation at 11.00am with a 3-way split for a choice of either; a gully climb led by Matt Joy, a high level hillwalk led by Dan Condren, or lower-level ramble with Winnie Flynn. Walking boots and good outdoor clothing are required while helmets should be worn by those attempting the gully.

New participants are welcome to come along for either of the walks.
Also a reminder that we now have over 130 bookings for this year's Kerry Charity Challenge, which leaves us with 30 hotel places still available. The event takes place in the Castlerosse Hotel, Killarney on April 9/10/11 and offers everything from an ascent of Carrauntoohil to easy wilderness walking for those with only moderate fitness levels. All comers are welcome onboard for this long established event which supports the cause of visually impaired people with an immediate 70 euro deposit securing you place. If you are interested in coming it is now time to ensure your aren't disappointed by forwarding your deposit to Michael Sutton, 17 Willowmere Drive, Thurles Co Tipp; Tel: 0504-21482 or 086–4009989; email michaelsutton1949@gmail.com
