A huge crowd attended Thurles Greyhound Stadium last Saturday night for the final of the Thurles Fresh Milk Tipperary Cup which had a winner's prize of E15500 along with a total prizefund of over E32,000.
The final proved to be a thriller with victory going to the John Kiely trained Chicken Supper who got the better of a close finish with local hope Bay City Jack in a time of 28.79. From traps it was Callums Lad who showed in front with Bay City Lad l
eading to the bend and on the back straight. Approaching the top bends the winner took it up and ran on strongly to the line holding off the late challenge of Bay City Lad with Gilbeyhall Jake another half length back in third place. The winners prizes were presented by Jim Maher Chairman of Centenary Thurles Coop and Evelyn Nevin Lady Mayoress of Thurles.


The opener on the night was won by Tom Whites Yo Yousir who came from behind to win. Here Angel Jack made the early running with Marvellousmarvin taking it up on the back straight and leading to the home stretch where the winner came with a storming late run to get up to win by a length and a half in a time of 29.67 from Marvin with the early leader Angel Jack back another two lengths in third place.

The Liam McCormack trained Murroe Lad owned by Helena Hickey clocked 29.20 when taking the second race on the card. This fellow was led in the early stages by Jordie Boy but took it up on the back straight and went on to win by two lengths from Jordie with Granada max back another length in third place. The winner was making it nine career wins.
Albert Beardsleys Roo Come On came in as a reserve to the third race on the card a 600yd event and duly obliged breaking the track record in the process. Leading from traprise the winner went right away to score an all the way thirteen lengths win over Hereyesareblue in a spectacular 32.70 with Bambas Vieri back another length and a half in third place.


The fourth race, the final of the Sunoak N2 525 resulted in a win for the warm favourite Pretty Maldini who clocked 29.23 when winning. Here Killea Osprey led from traps and led until near the line where the winner came through to score by a neck with Surf Silver back another length and a half in third place.


The Yvonne Harrington owned and trained Hold Tough took the fifth race the final of an A5 600yd stake. Here Joekies Honcho made the early running and led to the last bend where the winner slipped through on the rails at the last bend and got up to win by a short head with Slaneyside Flake back another two and a half lengths in third place.
The Sixth race the final of the onlygreyhounds.com A4 stake was won impressively by Bill Fogartys Oveg Tiger who clocked 29.02 when making every post a winning one holding off the late challenge of Monacocka by a length and a half with Dublinhill Pride back another three and a half lengths in third place. The winner was making it three wins from eight starts.

The seventh race the Clearys Bookmakers A3 570 yd final was won in 31.89 by John Purcells Shaunas Rose who led early on was passed but came again and got up to win by a length and a half from Culleen Lorian with Boozed Shaggy back another neck in third place.The winners prize here was E650.


The Browne and O Gorman Bookmakers A2 stake resulted in a win for Roger Mounseys Patterdale Wally who was led for most of the way by Gypsy Biker who was still in front turning for home. However the winner came with a storming late run and got up to win by a half length from the long time leader in 29.16 with Bua Dubh back another length in third place.


Patsy Coffeys His Fantasy took the last race on the card the CH Plumbing 840 stake final. Here Early leader Slaneyside Sue looked a likely winner when well clear on the back straight however the winner moved into a challenging position approaching the top bends and pulled away to score by three lengths from Slaneyside with Say good Day back another six and a half lengths back in third place.
Friday night

Fastest over the standard distance on Friday night was the run of the Sean Spain Buzz Doc in the eighth race an A5/A6 event. Getting a flier from traps the winner went clear on the run to the bend and from here on was never headed holding off the late challenge of Purquin by four lengths in a fast 29.03 with Totos Jet back another length and a half in third place.


The first race on the card a sprint resulted in a win for Shelbourne Peak who was led in the early stages but came through at the top bends and went on to win by two lengths from High Ace Lady in 18.67 with Triangle Louise back another neck in third place. The winner is owned by John Marks and trained by Willie Treacy.


Moonvurrin Bound owned by Pat Hackett made a winning debut when taking the second race on the card. Leading from flagfall he was always holding the challenge of Ballycrash Babe who was a length adrift where it mattered in a time of 29.97 with Crescent Pa back another three and a half back in third place.


The third race on the card another sprint was won by Bit View Zebra owned by Michael O Riordan and Philip Dillon who got the better of a tussle with Saving Straws by two lengths in a time of 18.12 with Two Drop Outs back another three lengths back in third place.

The fourth race on the card was won by Batties Alicia owned by James O'Keeffe and Alisha O Keeffe and trained by Liam Harding. Taking it up at the sprint box from early leader Pressure Board she held off the late challenge of Uncertain Step by three lengths in a time of 29.88 with Dazzlem Deewhy back another four in third place.
Sunoak Joe led to the third bend in the fifth race on the card where he was overtaken by Jotop John who went on to hold off the late challenge of Dorcha Ri by a short head in a time of 29.92 with Shelbourne Buck back another nine and a half lengths in third place.Jotop John is owned by Philip Molloy.


The sixth race on the card resulted in a win for the Brian King owned Shelbourne Bess owned by John Marks who took it up at the third bend and went away to score by four lengths from Emmas Adventure in 29.70 with Steepleroad Blue back another three lengths in third place.
The seventh race a sprint was won by Thomas Cormacks Clerihan State who led to the bend and from here on was never headed and went on to score by four lengths from Ascot James in a time of 18.03 with Jets Pad back another length in third place.The winner was making it two career wins.
Roger Dwans Borna Talent was an all the way winner of the ninth race on the card. Making it two wins from six starts the winner was always in command and won by three lengths from Amys Last Chance in a time of 29.53 with Arabian Top back another half length in third place.
The last race on the card was won by the Derek Kehoe trained Coolera Prince who took this 525 event in a time of 29.35 when leading all the way to win by four and a half lengths from Black Pressure with Blissful Mossy back another length in third place. The winner was winning for the fifth time.
