Best Ever Borrisoleigh Coursing Meeting

After a delay of three weeks due to inclement weather conditions, coursing finally got under way on Saturday and Sunday the 16th and 17th. It can only be said the wait was well worth it as both ground conditions and weather were perfect for coursing.
The Borrioleigh Club once again has to be complimented on the standard of coursing, the hares outstanding, fit and strong. acknowledged by those present to have been the best ever.

In the final of the Derby Trial Stake, the Mr. Shane McLoughlin ow
ned Cooga Ruby (Court House - Cooga Annie) got the better of The-Wife's-Club-Syndicates owned Jingles (Trajectory - Billa

Og) having beaten Gladstone Three, Amazing Dancer, Highland Harbour, and Master Mile.

The Oaks Trial Stake went to the Mr. Kevin Smith and Mr. Joe Dolan owned Notindispute (Bexhill Eoin - Chubbys Accord) beating Mr. Patrick Fitzgerald's Chinese (Matt Hyland - Judgement) in the final, having beaten Mid Term Lady, Red Ink, Chubbys Excel and Sudden Cheer in earlier rounds.

The All Age Cup was won by Alarm Time (Musical Time - Call Up) nominated by Mr. G O' Connell, beating Chubbys Gold (Bexhill Eoin - Qualityandgold) nominated by Mr. Sean Ryan. Alarm Time also beat Shining Henry, Johnny Casanova and Punters Paradise on his way to the final.

The All Age Bitch Stake resulted in The-Barony- Syndicate owned Ashtown Amy (Droopys Caesar - Ballymac Kanu) booking her Clonmel ticket beating Mrs. Kathlean Casey O' Connell's Herhairwasblak (Bar Time - Giveittopaddy). Ashtown Amy also beat Make The Turn, Magical Ava and Peake Treasure.

The Rathmoy Stakes for working members was won by Shes A Fugitive (Bexhill Eoin - Moygannon Hill) owned by the Fairy-Five-O-Syndicate beating Flag Me In (Janey Mac aroo - Maxwells Guest) owned by Mr. Jason Maher in the final.

The Pallas Stake was won by Key Story (Droopys Caesar - Key View) for Mr. Michael Ryan beating the Mr. Michael Lowry and Mr. Patrick Clancy owned Valkyrie (Top Honcho - Lonesome Jackie).

The Glenkeen Stake was won by Red Stone (Beakstown Jim - Hoping For One) for Mr. Richard Maher beating Mother Nature (Phoenix Paddy - Canaska Whitey) owned Mr. Frank Tynan and Mr. Oliver Moriarty in the final.

The Surplus Stake was won by the Mr. Pat O' Connor owned Haveabarney (Ahane Lad - Kylemore Queen) beating The-Late-Arrival-Syndicate owned Ballygeehan (Go Wild Teddy - Brookfield Best).

During the past year in which the Borrisoleigh Club lost three of their most valued members, Donal Bourke, Murt Ryan and Neil O' Dwyer. The president of the Irish Coursing Club Mr. Brian Divilly congratulated the club on running such a fantastic meeting after enduring all kinds of conditions over the past couple of months.

A special word of thanks to the Kennedy family from Fishmoyne for the use of their field, slipper Owen Walsh, judge Noel Loughnane, Phidelma and the ladies committee for providing refreshments, broadcaster Willie Clohessey, hare catchers, the dedicated and hard working members and anyone who in any way made the two days a success.
