By the time this report appears the adjourned convention of the West Board will have taken place. Scheduled for this Wednesay night at Dundrum it gets the division back on track after the contreremps with the convention.
There's a fairly extensive agenda for the meeting. Motions from convention were down for discussion. These included a motion from Cashel King Cormac's calling for the election of an assistant secretary. It was proposed by Pat O'Donoghue and seconded
by Mattie Finnerty and passed unanimously.

Motions 2 and 3 adopted Divisional and Games Regulations respectively and were passed without dissent.

Emly proposed that 'All referees irrespective of grade be advised and assessed on their performance each year.' It was agreed as a recommendation.

The final motion, also proposed by Emly 'that the board reviews the cost of entrance to games especially at B and C level in the present climate' was referred to the Finance Committee. The treasurer, Sean Bradshaw, stated that the season ticket was there to make entrance charges to games more bearable. He also pointed out that there was a uniformity in entrance charges between the divisions.

Amalgamations and affiliations resulting from the county board grading appeals were to be discussed. There were a couple of elections to be held. A new Youth Officer was to be elected as well as members to the competitions control committee.

Scór hasn't been strong in the division for some years and the delegates were to discuss its promotion and also the arrangements for club participation. It is hoped that most clubs will enter a team in Scór Sinsir at Lattin Hall at the weekend

Probably the item likely to generate most interest was the items relating to the draws and the systems for championships and leagues for the coming year.

Injury Scheme

Clubs have been notified by the secretary on the changes in the G.A.A. Injury Scheme and they would be advised to give the document a close read. Clubs and other units must register on line and subscriptions have to be forwarded direct to the G.A.A. Injury Scheme in Croke Park. Registrations and subscriptions should be completed by February 15. Up to now clubs were able to avail of constant reminders from the secretary and leniency from the treasurer but I expect this deadline will be the deadline and clubs would be advised to adhere to it.

Since helmets are now compulsory for all hurlers one of the questions to be answered on the claim form for hurling injuries is: Were you wearing a helmet, is so, specify which helmet, Mycro, Marc or Azzurri? There is much more information to be learned in the Injury Scheme brochure.

Sean Treacy's AGM

There was an interesting motion passed at the recent Sean Treacy's AGM. It proposed the abolition of managers in the club and the giving of equal say to selectors in the management of the team. Proposed by Michael Hanly it got the support of the meeting and is it a straw in the wind on how the grassroots are feeling about all powerful and well-expensed managers?
