Streamstown Celtic Roscrea

Streamstown Celtic travelled to Killoran Park last Sunday afternoon to take on Templetouhy and came away with all 3 points after a fairly emphatic 6-0 victory. Templetouhy 0 Streamstown Celtic 6

The floodgates opened on 22 minutes when a free-kick on the right was drilled across the 6 yard box by Denis Conlon and the inrushing Derek ‘Luiz’

Halpin tapped in to make it 2-0. 2 became 3 on 25 minutes when Kirwan released Doyle down the right and his pinpoint cross saw Andy Golden head home. Peter Hogan got in on the act on 33 minutes when Doyle once again assisted to release Hogan who calmly rounded the keeper to make it 4. Brian Kirwan’s cross on 36 minutes saw ‘Luiz’ brought down and Andy Golden stepped up and despite seeing his penalty saved he was quickest to react to tap home and make it 5-0. Denis Conlon then tried his luck less the 60 seconds later with a spectacular 35 yard effort which was unfortunate to just graze the post and go wide.

The 2nd half was a bit of a damp squib with both teams seemingly happy to go through the motions and it took until the 82nd minute for the first real effort when a Diarmuid Loughnane flick on saw Joey Touhy’s volley deflected wide and from the resulting corner Loughnane’s headed effort went inches wide. Paddy Touhy then broke onto a loose ball on 85 minutes 25 yards out and his half volley saw the keeper pull off a great save. The scoring was completed on 88 minutes when a great ball from the impressive substitute Tomas O’Brien saw Brian Kirwan through on goal to finish the game the way he started it with another expertly taken chip over the keeper to make it 6-0.

This was a great team performance with all 14 players used on the day playing their part and hopefully the team can push now for the season.
