NTSFL round up
U 12 Girls Premier Birdhill 5 - 1 Borris St. Kevins - Birdhill raced into a 3-0 lead thanks to goals from Ruth Allen and Emma Coleman before the impressive Emma Shelly scored to get Borris St. Kevins back in the game.
Borris pressed hard for a second but could not break down a resolute Birdhill defence. Indeed the home team looked dangerous on the break and added further to their tally with a Ciara Connolly goal and an excellent strike from the skillful Emma Coleman to round off an impressive display.
U 16 Girls Premier
Birdhill 5 - 2 Borris St.Kevins.
Borris St.Kevins arrived short of the full compliment of players to compound what is always a difficult assignment away to Birdhill. However they set about the task in determined mood and deservedly took the lead ten minutes into the game when Sarah Foley scored following great work from Sarah Mc Kevitt down the left wing. Birdhill responded well to this early set back and began to apply pressure on the visitors defence where Caoimhe Burke and Laura Glesson were in sparkling form. Laura Kennedy brought off a string of fine saves in the Borris St.Kevins goal before Keely Linihan capitalised on a defensive mix up to shoot Birdhill level just before the break. Robbyn Moore and Sarah McKevitt worked hard to keep Borris St.Kevins in the game but the second half belonged to the impressive Keely Linihan who had the home team ahead five minutes after the restart. Lucy Hurley extended the lead shortly after and the game was put beyond reach when Linihan converted a penalty after Caoimhe McGrath was brought down. Linihan, who’s pacy runs were now tearing the visitors rearguard to shreds set up Trudy Hurley for Birdhill’s fifth. Borris St.Kevins to their credit never gave up and were unlucky not to score themselves with good efforts from Moore and McKevitt. Indeed Katie Jones in the Birdhill goal brought off a spectacular save from a Robbyn Moore piledriver when the game was still in the melting pot. Moore converted a late penalty for the visitors to round off an entertaining game.

Holycross 1 Nenagh AFC C 2
Nenagh finished the stronger to snatch victory in an entertaining contest between two evenly matched teams. Holycross settled better and led by a goal to nil at half time thanks to a well taken score from Luke Scally. The game looked destined to go the way of the home team who edged exchanges in the second half when Paul Kennedy brough Nenagh level with a well taken goal five minuted from time. Not satisfied with the draw Nenagh pressed forward with renewed vigor and were awarded a fee kick in a dangerous position in the dying moments. Conor Byrne’s kick struck the crossbar and the rebound was headed across goal by Jack Hassett where Adam Ryan was on hand to slide the ball home for a last gasp winner.
Boys U16 League.
Holycross 3 Arra Rovers 2
Rovers started the brighter and went ahead fifteen minutes into the game when William Fogarty curled a free kick from outside the area into the far corner of the net. The home side responded quickly with a goal of equal quality from Thomas Fogarty who’s volley from thirty yards rattled the Arra net. Holycross were in front five minutes later thanks to a Dylan Quirke strike and held the advantage going into the break. The play switched from end to end in an entertaining second half. Arra struck with twenty minutes remaining through a headed goal from Ruadhri Mulrooney from a Jack Moloney cross to restore parity. An exciting last quarter saw both keepers tested before the home team secured the points when Thomas Fogarty prodded home his second following a goalmouth melee. Arra, who could consider themselves unlucky to leave empty handed, had good performances from the impressive Paul Carroll in goal, Conor Gill in defence, and Rudhrai Mulrooney. For Holycross who are back in the hunt for league honors thanks to this hard fought victory Michael Ryan in midfield, Thomas Fogarty who’s goals were vital, and Fionn McCartan, following his introduction at half time, were prominent.
Girls U14 League.
Holycross 0 Birdhill 2

Birdhill led at half time thanks to goals from Ellen McKeogh and Sophie McGrath. Holycross tried hard to get back into the game in the second period but found it impossible to breach the resolute Birdhill rearguard where Caoimhe McGrath and Trudy Hurley were in top form. Holycross never gave up and had good performances from the impressive Anna Gavin, Claire McGrath, Katie Ryan, and Lily Maher.
