Roadstone Provinces Mid IH Final Russell’s Saves Help Clonakenny to Title

Clonakenny 3-8 Moyne Templetuohy 1-13

Clonakenny were crowned Roadstone Provinces Mid Intermediate Hurling champions on Sunday afternoon last at The Ragg, when three goals helped sink rivals Moyne Templetuohy in a scrappy, but competitive decider.

No, this final won’t go down as a classic game of hurling, but what it lacked in finesse, it certainly made up for in excitement - the close nature of proceedings ensuring that the fare went right the way to the wire with Moyne Templetuohy coming in search of an equaliser right at the death. It wasn’t to be though and Clonakenny lived to lift the silverware despite having hit 15 wides in the hours – on other occasions, such squandering of gilt edged chances would have cost them dearly. They got away with it and celebrated wildly when referee John Butler (Upperchurch Drombane) sounded the final whistle. See this weeks Tipperary Star for full report.
