Moycarkey Borris Capture County Title and Move to the Big Time

Moycarkey Borris 2-9 Upperchurch Drombane 1-8

ycarkey Borris have joined the ranks of senior football for the 2013 season following a deserved victory over Mid rivals Upperchurch Drombane in the County Intermediate football final at Holycross on Saturday afternoon last.

A tough, competitive and highly entertaining clash with some fine football played, the Moycarkey Borris lads laid the foundations to their victory in the very early stages as they raced into a six point lead by the end of the first quarter. And, despite the great efforts of a very hard fighting and energetic Upperchurch Drombane who could only get to within two points of the victors, Moycarkey Borris worked hard to keep their noses in front, eventually winning out by four points.

Local rivalry ensured that there was a very sizeable attendance at this eagelry awaited decider and with the pitch in top condoition considering the heavy rains of the previous week, it was game on. The Moycarkey Borris lads had won the previous encounter in the Mid Final and they were intent on adding to their silverware – they made sure from the off, that they positioned themselves in the advantage seat for this one.
