Kilsheelan Too Strong For Knockavilla

County Junior (A) Hurling Championship Q/F

Kilsheelan-Kilcash 1-15 Knockavilla Kickhams 0-09

South Division Champions Kilsheelan-Kilcash booked their place in the last four of the County Junior (A) Hurling Championship with an empathic nine-point victory over the 13 men of Knockavilla Kickhams in a disappointing quarterfinal in very changeable weather at New Inn on Saturday afternoon.

It was five minutes into the game before Kilsheelan’s Thomas Ryan broke the deadlock, John Roche then added a ‘65’ after his initial free was cleared. Kilsheelan went three up when good approach work ended with Alex Harte finding the target.

Kickhams recovered from that early setback with Ger Farrell opening the score in the 9th minute and then reduced the leeway with a long range free from Tommy Comerford. However, Kilsheelan responded in style scoring the only goal of the afternoon in the 13th minute when the unmarked John Kehoe scored from close range in a goalmouth scramble to go 1-3 to 0-2 clear.
