Rosegreen GAA

We have reached the end of the 2012 playing season in Rosegreen GAA Club. Looking back over the year, it presents more positives than negatives. Our junior B hurlers bridged a gap of 8 years to secure the James O Donoghue West Championship cup. This was a terrific achievement for our Club and hopefully it will act as a stepping stone to bigger and better things.

Our Junior A football team failed at the semi final stage of the West competition. This was a bit of a shock to say the least as hopes were high that we would be in the shake-up for West honours………not to be! The defeat at semi final stage should act as an incentive for the team to achieve better results for 2013.

Rosegreen GAA Clubs Confined 200 draw has again proved to be a very successful financial venture for the Club. Without the monies generated from this draw, the Club would find it extremely difficult to survive financially. Many thanks to all members of the draw and to the promoters for their continued support. The final 2 instalments of the draw take place in Dansies Bar at 10pm on Saturday night next, December 22nd. Please come along and support on the night. Refreshments will be served.

The Clubs Annual General Meeting will take place on Saturday January 5th 2013at 8pm in the Community Hall. We appeal to all members, players, supporters and committee members to attend on the night as this is the main forum to discuss any matters relating to Rosegreen GAA Club.

All deceased Club members and Officers will be prayed for at 7pm mass in Rosegreen before the AGM commences.

The Club would like to express condolences to the Costello, Quinlan and O Grady families on their recent bereavements. All families concerned are steeped in Rosegreen GAA life.

On the Juvenile Club scene, we have continued to achieve growth and success within the Club. We have teams playing at U6, U7, U8, U10, U12 {x3), U14, and U16. Our U14 Teams won the West U14 B football final, the U14 C West hurling league and championship, reaching the County U14 final but loosing to a much better Carrick side. Our various U12 football teams won the West at 12D and 12F grades. Again this year, we had three U12 teams affiliated in the West division.

Our U16 hurling and football teams reached their divisional finals but didn’t collect any silverware. This group of young men have plenty of talent which bodes well for the future of the Club. Our minor and U21 players amalgamated with Rockwell. While they didn’t win any titles, they progressed well throughout the year and were not too far off from success.

We had players representing our Club on the Divisional West U14 and U16 teams in hurling and football. Colm Hayde made the break onto the County U14 hurling team. All these achievements are noteworthy and hopefully these young players will go on to bring success to the Little Village.

Hopefully, with all the work being put into the Juvenile structure, it bears dividends in the years ahead to ensure the continued growth of the Club.

I would like to thank all Club Officers, Committee members, Players, Coaches, Selectors, Parents / Guardians, Sponsors, Draw Co-ordinators / promoters and anyone who in any way helped and gave their time to Rosegreen GAA Club throughout 2012. Your time and efforts are greatly appreciated. Finally, I would like, on behalf of the Club to wish all our community a happy, healthy and peaceful Christmas and best wishes for 2013. Faiche Ro Abu.
