O’Connor and Maher receive top honours at Munster awards

Two of the country’s top GAA stars have accolades to ease the pain of coming up short in the All Ireland Series 2012.

Tipperary Senior Hurler Patrick “Bonner” Maher and Cork Senior Footballer Donncha O’Connor have been honoured in their home province.

The duo were the recipients of the hurler and footballer of the year trophies at the Bord Gais Energy Munster GAA Awards 2012. O’Connor was Cork’s top scorer during their successful league campaign while Bonner was influential in helping Tipperary to back to back Munster Senior Hurling titles.

Also honoured on the night Donal Moloney and Gerry O’Connor (Manager of the year), Brid Stack (Camogie) and Dr Crokes (Club of the year).
