Kennedy Steps Down

Chairman Roger Kennedy stood down as West Board chairman at convention, held in Clonoulty-Rossmore clubrooms on Friday night last. He was highly praised by the delegates for his impartiality and helpfulness during his three years in office.

Welcomed as his replacement was Tom English (Eire Óg) who was proposed for the office by fellow clubman, Vinny Ryan, and seconded by Billy Ryan (Kickhams).

The new chairman spoke of the great honour to himself, his club and his family on being elected and he looked forward to working with the clubs, players, referees and sponsors in the division. There were difficult times ahead and he hoped to do his best. He mentioned the many players in the division who were lost to our games through emigration. He hoped that in better economic times many of them would return. He thanked the clubs for the trust placed upon him and promised to do his best to serve all the clubs well.

Following his remarks the delegates expressed their support for the new chairman and wished him well in his years in office.
