Cashel King Cormac’s GAA
West U.21 “A” Hurling Semi Final Cashel KC 4-09 Arravale Rovers 3-07 - A Determined and controlled Cashel display clinched a Final birth in the U.21 “A” Hurling championship next Sunday when we will do battle with Clonoulty Rossmore.
Cashel’s performance was eye-catching and when Arravale piled on the pressure and posed some real questions in the second half taking a one-point lead, the team really answered those questions in style. While not getting too carried away the lads know they will need to raise the barometer another level next weekend but as a team there is a real desire, drive and belief rippling through this panel of players. The first half was a nervy one with Cashel guilty of missing some good opportunities while Arravale adopted a two man full forward line but to be fair Cashel’s defence was the foundation for this win with Kevin O’Leary in particular outstanding. Taking just a one-point lead in at the break, 2-02 to 1-4 this game was anyone’s for the taking. A hotly disputed second half penalty to the Rovers threatened to derail Cashel’s push but it didn’t it had the opposite effect, it galvanised the team. Dylan Fitzell now operating in the half forward line was proving a real handful for the Arravale Rovers defence. In a five-minute spell he brilliantly executed two goals of high quality. Simon Delaney now out around the middle was stamping his authority with Jonathan Grogan. In the finish Cashel emerged deserved winners having fought very hard to stave the Rovers assault. The lads can now look forward to the final next Sunday. This will be Cashel’s third consecutive U.21 final appearance having won back-to-back titles in the B grade in 2010 and 2011; the question now is can we add to that in 2012? Your support in Bansha again was massive and we urge everyone to get behind the team and management again next Sunday!

“Victory Celebration”
On Friday December 14th we will hold a ‘Victory Celebration’ to honour our winning teams from 2012. A great year it has been so far and with our U.21 Hurlers contesting the “A” final next Sunday it isn’t over yet. Way back in March our U.21 footballers got the ball rolling capturing our first title for 2012 beating combo side Rockwell/Rosegreen in a fantastic victory in Bansha. Roll onto October time and our Junior B footballers the “football fairytale” story of the season, upset all the odds and surprised even the diehard Cashel supporter overturning hot favourites Rockwell Rovers in New Inn to seal a memorable night for the club. Our Intermediate footballers whom provided us with so many highlights and a high level of football saw off a determined Kickams side after a replay to make it title number three. Then it was the turn of our minor Hurlers, pitted against a strongly fancied Clonoulty in the final this team displayed huge character and skill to emerge superb “A” Minor champions, who will ever forget that Bank holiday Monday in Dundrum. Lets not forget our successful U.21 hurling team from 2011 it may have been just over a year ago but it’s still fresh in the memory. On the night all the aforementioned winning teams will receive their winning medals for their outstanding achievements. We will kick off proceeding with a buffet supper from 8pm onwards with the presentation of medals to follow soon after. Former Kerry Great and football legend “Jack O’Shea”will be our guest Speaker on the night, a man who played at the highest level with the Kingdom, with his success with the famous Kerry team of the 80’s a large piece of GAA history. We are very fortunate to have landed someone of Jack O’Shea’s stature. We will have live music from popular local band “Modern Souls’ with disco to follow. Posters for the event have been circulated throughout the town outlining the details for the night and with tickets reasonably priced at E10.00, this is certainly a night not to be missed. Tickets are available to buy from Grogans Convenience Store. We look forward to a great night, “le Cunamh De’!
