Cashel King Cormac’s
West Junior B Championship Cashel KC 1-14 Eire Og 2-06 - Our juniors got their assault on the West Championship off the ground with a deserved win over Eire Og. Having suffered a heavy defeat to the same opposition last year this was a decent turnaround for the panel. A strong wind tried its best to ruin the game as a spectacle but Cashel hunted and harried in packs against the wind in the opening half and enjoyed a five-point half time lead for their efforts 0-7 to 0-2. The second half saw Cashel threaten to pull away but Eire Og to their credit kept at it and two 21-metre goals kept them right in it. But when Robert Anglim was upended with a late challenge Timmy Moloney showed he still has plenty to offer smashing the ball to the net to extinguish any hope for the opposition. Overall this was a pleasing win for the team that will hopefully see good improvement in the weeks ahead. Team: O Quirke, PJ Mooney, B Minogue, C Ryan, A Cummins, D Delahunty, C Minogue, D Shiels, MK O’Dwyer, P Taylor (0-2), Wm Fitzelle (0-1), Eoghan Ryan, R Anglim (0-), Timmy Moloney (1-6), R Doherty (0-1). Subs Fionnain Ryan for D Shiels, Cormac O’Dwyer for R Doherty, Paddy Morrissey for PJ Mooney & Alan Coughlan for R Anglim.
Moneygall Upset The Odds With Surprise Win
Moneygall upset the odds on Sunday afternoon with a fully-deserved two-point win over a very disappointing Nenagh Éire Óg. Eoin Troy, Willie Greene, Conor Ryan and Ger Kirwan all impressed for Moneygall while a misfiring Éire Óg featured fine displays from Tommy Heffernan and second half substitute Hugh Maloney.
Cashel King Cormac’s News
Juvenile News: Last week saw the club run its annual “School of Excellence”. This year it was named after the late Mickie Browne in recognition of his total commitment, dedication and more important his love of the club. To get the week under way Liam Browne spoke to the kids on the importance of teamwork and urged everyone to enjoy the coaching and improve on all aspects of their game in both hurling and football. Thankfully the weather while not at its best was kind for the most part and every player got the most from three days in which they received a Gaelic football and Sliothar for their efforts during the week. A special thanks to Kevin Hally and his team of coaches and to our own Juvenile chairman Joe McGrath and his committee for making sure everything went off without a hitch. Also to the lads in leahy park for having the pitches in fine fettle for the week and finally to all the players who participated, a big well done and good luck for the championships ahead.
