Crokes Prove Too Strong For Commercials

Munster Senior Club Football Semi-Final

Dr Crokes 1-14 Clonmel Commercials 0-6

While the outcome of this Munster club chamnpionship contest was predictable Clonmel Commercials will have left Killarney on Sunday with the belief that they should be real contenders for provincial honours in the years ahead given the quality of young talent at their disposal.

Even though Clonmel Commercials were beaten by a significant margin by the Kerry champions they emerged from this contest with considerable credit for their hard working and industrious display against all the odds.

That Commercials were depleted going into this battle is well documented and taking on such an experienced and seasoned force as Dr. Crokes in their own back yard without so many influential players through injury, suspension and commitments to other sports made an onerous task all the more difficult.

There was much to admire about this Commercials performance. The powerful displays by so many young players, the manner in which they played such composed football in the most atrocious of conditions, the spirit to battle for every ball up to the final whistle provided great hope for the future on a dark , dismal day at the rain lashed Killarney venue.
