Old Wesley 37 Cashel 14 - With a bitter wind blowing down Donnybrook Road last Saturday Cashel Met the Old Wesley Club in the Ulster Bank Div 2(A) League.
Dublin Sides traditionally like to showcase an exciting back line and this D4 outfit certainly had one. With barely twenty minutes on the clock, Cashel were fourteen nil down. The rally did come with some powerful forwards play and they went in at half time trailing by 21 points to 14. The second half was not to see them put any more points on the boards however and were too easily at times cut open by a more energised team.
They are still a much better team than the scoreboard suggests though and next weeks at home Christmas outing which they hope to lay siege to the “City of Derry” should be a “cracker”.
Kick off time is 2.30pm. Come out and support your town.

U17s Cashel vs Kilfeacle
Last Sunday Cashel travelled to Kilfeacle for the u17 East Munster League match. With soft conditions under foot, this was a good win for Cashel. Cashel came off to a great start with strong possession and a try on try on their hands within the first fifteen minutes. The Cashel scrum was strong with great teamwork from all eight of them. Cashels backs made great tackles and turned over excellent ruck balls. Kilfeacle were a worthy opposition but this was a very strong display from Cashel. Man of the match goes to Sean Lonergan for his spectacular hand off on Declan Farrell.
Sunday morning last our mini rugby brigade headed to Clonmel for a blitz that included new-comers Mitchelstown. With conditions very heavy there was encouraging rugby on display. All age groups from U7’s to U12’s were involved. Reports from all coaches were very positive.
Cashel U12’s were slow to start against Clonmel but 10 minutes into the first half, they sparked! Forwards of the calibre of Eoghan Murphy, Dylan Foley and Fearghail O’Donoghue played good honest rugby. Luke O’Dlynn and Luke Kevin covered good ground. Our half backs of Joshua O’Dwyer and Oisin O’Suilleabhain linked well together. Kevin Malloy was brave in attack supported greatly by Aidan Maher and Seanie O’Neill. Tim Hyde, a player who is improving week by week showed moments of magic. Kate Malloy was involved with backs and forwards but Man of the Match must go to Jack Ryan! Jack highlighted what we need in a player, determination, courage, the will to achieve high standards, a rugby brain and quite simply some performance. The scoring was very even but Cashel U12’s to improve in the future need to have a higher tackle count. All for the training ground Friday night boys...
A big thank you to all parents who travelled on the day.
