St. Vincent de Paul - The annual collection in aid of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul will be taken up at all Masses in Upperchurch and Drombane on the 15th and 16th December. As times get increasingly difficult, your generosity will be deeply appreciated.

Night Hike - The annual Upperchurch Christmas Night Hike will be held on this Sunday evening, Dec. 16th starting from the village at 7 p.m. This has become one of the most popular events in the local walking calendar and gets the festive season into full swing for many people. This year the route will follow the same Moher-Gortkelly seven km road route which proved so popular at the recent Walking Weekend. There will be burning torches, head lamps, candles, Christmas lights and flashing amber tractor lights to illuminate the way in the event of the moon and stars failing to co-operate.

The usual Christmas fare of mulled wine, hot fruit punch and hot soft drinks along with mince pies, cake and biscuits will be shared at the Ballyboy lookout. Walkers can help this free event by bringing some small consumable item to share. The break for refreshments will allow an opportunity for carols, music, scripture readings and reflections.

Walkers are requested to help the organisers by registering in good time at the Community Centre so as to allow them to know how many people they have to cater for. Registration is free. Those who wish to have a light meal after the walk may pre book at registration at a reasonable cost.
