Thurles and District Camera Club

At our first meeting of the New Year on Wednesday 8th the chairman welcomed everyone well for the year ahead. He acknowledged some new people in attendance and welcomed Tom Gallagher who judged our Nature competition.

Details of forthcoming regional competitions were announced among them being the S.A.C.C. Nature competition which is taking place in Mallow on January 26th.

Tom Gallagher gave some very interesting commentary on the winning images and indeed went into great depth on various flora images.. His session was very educational and was listened too with great intensity by all.

The winners in the categories were as follows

Established section Flora 1st Jim Freeman, 2nd Sarah Morris and 3rd Christy Bracken

Fauna 1st Eamon Brennan,2nd Christy Bracken and 3rd Jim Freeman

In the Beginners section Dick Walsh was the only entrant and was awarded all three places in both categories

Congratulations to all our winners and indeed to all who had entered the competition.

Next week we are holding a session on portraiture complete with lighting set up and backdrops which will give everyone an opportunity to prepare for our February competition Portraiture /Faces.

To conclude our evening we viewed some of the festive season shots taken during the past two weeks by some of the members which included scenes from around Thurles, Waterford, The Alps and Germany.

The officer board are only too glad to facilitate the concerns of our members and will gladly listen any suggestions and are welcome to either email or contribute at our meetings.
