Templemore Garda Training College is building up for the first batch of 100 recruits since 2009, with a revamped student-centred BA Degree in Applied Policing.
Reporters were given a flavour of the real-life complex scenarios the new Garda Recruits will face during the course of their careers, whether it’s using a baton on rioters, responding in a Garda car during a crisis, or co-ordinating the response for a missing schoolgirl in the Control Room.
Garda Pat Murphy- responsible for Garda Training in the College - and Chief Supt. Anne Marie McMahon, told media the new course was designed to be student-led, with more emphasis on critical thinking, and practical issues which Gardaí will face on the streets.
