Irish Wheelchair Association’s local Basketball Clubs are holding a fundraising night of music & entertainment on Friday 7th February in Racket Hall at 9pm.

Music by ‘Outa Diesel’ & local guest musicians. A great nights entertainment is promised and admission is only €10. Contact IWA, Abbey Street, Roscrea on 0505 23229 for more details. All proceeds going to the development of Wheelchair Basketball in the local area. There will be a meeting of the Parish Pastoral Council on Wednesday, February 5th, at 8pm in the Legion Hall.

Donal Walsh Live

Life Walk

On Thursday at 12.30pm a group of Transition Year Students (approx 50) from Tralee will arrive in Roscrea on their journey from the Aviva Stadium to Thomond Park. They are collecting for the Donal Walsh Livelife Foundation and it is hoped that the people of Roscrea will support this very worthy cause. The students and their mentors will stay in local houses on Thursday night and continue on their way on Friday morning. They will stay in Nenagh on Friday night and reach their goal on Saturday when they arrive at Thomond Park in time for the Munster v Cardiff match. Fionnbar Walsh, Donals father will give a talk to Colaise Phobal students in the afternoon. There will be a meal and entertainment in the Colaiste Phobal that evening. The following morning Fionnbar Walsh and others will address the students of the Cistercian College before heading on to their next stop Nenagh. Donal was a great rugby fan and got great support from the Munster places in particular.

Provincial Towns

Cup match postponed.

Despite the best efforts of club members, led by Paddy Cody and Norman Carter the weather won once again. The pitch was unplayable last Saturday and the match had to be postponed. There was huge disappointment in the club and all arrangements had been put in place. The match has been re-fixed for this Wednesday evening at in Portlaoise RFC.

Ballyskenagh Drama

Ballyskenagh Drama Group will stage John B Keane’s ‘Big Maggie’ in the Citeaux Hall, Streamstown, Roscrea from March 6th to the 8th inclusive. Check local press for booking details nearer to the time. For further info, email :
