The Irish Simmental Cattle Society awarded Ann Doyle from Penane, Loughmore, with the 2014 National Hall of Fame Award for her involvement in the South Eastern Simmental Club and National Simmental Council.

Ann together with her husband William established their SUIR pedigree Simmental herd in 1981 and run 20 Pedigree cows.

Ann was and continues to be one of the driving forces behind the Southeastern Simmental Club and held the role of secretary for a number of years, and currently holds the position of assistant treasurer.

This involvement at club level led to Ann becoming a member of the National Simmental Council in 1999, a position she held for over seven years until retiring in 2007. Ann held the position of national treasurer for three years.

The award was presented to Ann by Ella McSweeney of RTE’s Ear to the Ground at an event in the Sheraton Hotel, Athlone, organised by Athlone Agricultural Show Society.
