On Saturday February 8th the 6th Class pupils in Scoil Mhuire Knockavilla will take part in the Cross Border Orchestra Choir in U.L.

The Cross Border Orchestra of Ireland (CBOI) was established in 1995 as a peace initiative and is composed of 120 young children from all over Ireland – north and south. The CBOI is recognised internationally as one of Ireland’s flagship peace initiatives and has become one of the most acclaimed orchestras that Ireland has ever produced. The orchestra is led by some of Ireland’s top professionals musicians including Gearoid Grant.

This spring the CBOI will perform in Dublin, Limerick, Killarney, Belfast and Kilkenny. The pupils from Knockavilla, together with pupils from schools all over Munster, will take part in the orchestra choir on February 8th at 2pm. Rehearsals have been taking place over the past months and the concert promises to be a real treat for all who will attend. The pupils and teachers in Scoil Mhuire are looking forward to the chance of singing with a full orchestra in front of their families and friends.
