KCG are launching an 8 Week Healthy Eating programme, designed to help those of you that wish to adopt a healthier diet or wish to lose some excess pounds. Come along on Tuesday evening March 25th at 7.00pm, for information on what is involved and if you decide to participate, you will have a weigh in and can sign up for ‘Operation Transformation’ - Killea style!. A healthy eating plan and fitness advice will also be available and this support will be part of a weekly programme, to run every Tuesday Evening, for the very low cost of €5 per person each week. A weekly exercise class will be available on Thursdays for €5 per person. Free weekly group walks will also be organised - both optional.

We are very fortunate to have nutritionist Laurie Kavanagh and fitness expert Deidre Ryan involved in the running of this. If you wish to join as a group please contact Josephine Coffey (number below).

The hope is that all who participate will take away a sponsorship card and get some support for your hard work during the 8 week programme. All sponsorship proceeds will go towards the Building Fund.

Easter Sunday Activities

KCG will have a Cake Sale on Easter Sunday morning, after Mass. There will be an Easter egg hunt for the children and other activities. They hope the morning will put everyone fully into the Easter spirit. Be sure to wear your Easter bonnet!

Leader 2014-2020 Update

KCG were waiting an outcome on 5 final applications, for funding from NTLP, before Christmas. These were to establish walking trails; get their signage system for Killea; assist Killea Tidy Towns get lights and other infrastructure for the village in place and develop a Sculpture Garden and Wild Flower meadow (with a strong biodiversity element) at Castle House.

While all applications were fully evaluated and approved by the Board of NTLP, funds ran out before Christmas in this LEADER round. Commenting on the outcome, Denise Meagher, Chair of KCG said that ‘we are hopeful that we will again be applying for these amenities, for Killea, later this year or early in 2015 when details of Leader 2014-2020 are published and application forms available. KCG have an excellent track record in applying for, and receiving support from LEADER, and we remain confident that we will achieve the objectives of our recently updated Development Plan, over the next 2 years’. She continued that she wished to thank her committee, ‘in particular Gerard and Josephine Coffey for their help, and the outgoing Treasurer, Joan Egan, for all the support she had given the Committee’.
