he North Tipperary Incredible Years Consortium is commencing its first roll out of The Incredible Years Parenting Programme. This parenting course is free of charge and open to all Mothers, Fathers and Carers in the Tipperary area.
Course Details: The course designed to help parents strengthen their parenting skills and reduce behaviour issues. Parents will learn through the group how to improve on their parenting skills. The Parenting Course is delivered over 14 weeks with one 2 hour session per week. This course covers a range of topics including: play, routines, behaviour issues, time-out for bad behaviour, problem solving, limit-setting, consequences, social and academic skills among others. The programme will be rolled out in the towns of Nenagh, Thurles, Roscrea and Templemore throughout 2014. If you are interested in taking part in your area please contact the below numbers.

The Incredible Years programme has been supported by The Tony Ryan Fund for Tipperary through The Community Foundation for Ireland. The North Tipperary Incredible Years Consortium, made up of Barnardos, North Tipperary Community Services, North Tipperary, LEADER Partnership, Tipperary Regional Youth Services and Tusla; Child and Family Agency secured funding to train facilitators and role out the Incredible Years Parent Group
‘Incredible Years’ is a research based positive Parenting Course which has shown to be effective for helping parents manage children’s emotional and behavioural difficulties. A recent research study showed that there were huge improvements in behaviour for 70% of children. Incredible Years helps parents to build a positive and calm home environment. All children can experience emotional and behavioural difficulties which can put stress on families. If you are having difficulty managing routines, mealtimes, getting to school, challenging behaviour - then this might be the course for you.
