Heritage Island visit Roscrea Castle

Members of Heritage Island, the company that promotes Irelands premier attractions and Heritage Towns visited Roscrea Castle Complex and Damer House as part of their Familiarity Trip through the midwest. Historian George Cunningham and RHS Secretary Brian Redmond met the group after their overnight in Birr and accompanied them by bus to Roscrea while using the time to introduce  the heritage story of Roscrea. They were met at King John's Castle by site manager Jacinta Rigney and RHS Chairman Des Walsh. The group visited the Georgian Garden and the 4 rooms in Damer House furnished with 17th century furniture.. George Cunningham presented each member with a specially commissioned pamphlet featuring the history of Roscrea Castle and 2 aerial photographs of Roscrea by Brian Redmond showing the medieval town in all its glory. The group then departed for Nenagh, Ballina/Killaloe and Limerick.
