Chairman of Roscrea Community Development Council (R.C.D.C) has said that “Roscrea, with its many challenges, must view the glass as half full.”
John Lupton says that “despite some publicly expressed views to the contrary”, a recent RCDC meeting with newly elected County Councillors was “a very fruitful meeting and laid the foundation for a working relationship with County Councillors going forward. Rather than criticising County Councillors, unfairly and personally, which is always grossly unacceptable, I was very grateful to the five County Councillors who attended our recent meeting and for their very clearly expressed commitment to meet, through RCDC facilitation, with community organisations and groups on a monthly basis.
Roscrea is now part of the Thurles/Templemore Municipal District represented by Councillors Smith, Hogan, Burke, Kennedy, Cahill, Hanafin, Doran, Lowry and Ryan. As well as locally based Councillor Michael Smith who is Chairperson of the Municipal District, Councillors Lowry, Hanafin and Doran, all Thurles based and Councillor Willie Kennedy, Borrisoleigh based, were in attendance and this, says John Lupton, showed their commitment to Roscrea and its people.
Mr Lupton says that of the four Councillors that did not attend, Councillor Jackie Cahill, Thurles based, was abroad on business and sent his apologies while Cllr Jim Ryan, also Thurles based also sent his apologies. John Lupton assures these and the other two County Councillors’ of the Municipal District that they also will be very welcome to future meetings. RCDC public meetings take place in the town’s Abbey Hall at 8pm on the last Thursday of each month with the exception of July and December. The next meeting takes place on Thursday 28t August next. All are welcome.
