The chairperson of the Nenagh Municipal area, Cllr Fiona Bonfield, has requested the council to allocate funding for footpaths in the town of Newport.
The first-time councillor has asked for this issue to be prioritised in the coming year as she feels it is a problem that has been neglected for a long-time now.
“Footpaths in the Newport area are a major danger to the safety of people in the town. I am receiving phone calls on a constant basis from people who have injured themselves as a result. I am committed to ensuring that a guarantee is made by the local authority to resolve this matter in the near future. Action on this concern is now long overdue,” concluded Cllr Fiona Bonfield.
