Cashel - St Patrick’s Hospital

The staff at St. Patrick’s Hospital undertook a counselling and psychotherapy course, based on the Human Givens approach, for the rehabilitation centre and residential settings at St Patrick’s Hospital Cashel.

This will be specifically tailored to meet the needs of patients who are intermediate level rehabilitation. This type of therapy has proven to be innovative in re-patterning old traumatic memories for patients who have undergone a life changing events such as a cardiovascular incident or a severe fall which leads to a fracture. It is intended to develop a bio-psycho-social counselling and psychotherapy service for the rehabilitation centre and residential settings at St Patrick’s Hospital Cashel based on the Human Givens approach. This service will be specifically tailored to meet the emotional and psychological needs of patients. The skills and holistic knowledge embodied in Human Givens training are ideally suited for helping staff at all levels to become more effective at dealing with patients suffering the effects of psychological trauma, anxiety and depression, as well as improving the way we support the family and other helpers of patients.
