Parade saw a vastly increased turnout for 2014, with over 2,000 members of the public lining the parade route. They were not disappointed with this year’s parade entries, in which the eclectic range of themes of the participating marching groups and floats created a mosaic of visual colours and inventive manifestations for all to enjoy.
The high standards of entries did make selecting winners of both the shop window displays and parade entries very challenging for the panel of judges. While the effort displayed by all participants was acknowledged, the panel’s selection for the shop window displays were awarded as follows: First Place to 2nd Chance Shop; Second Place to National Council of the Blind Ireland and Third Place was awarded to Darcy’s Hardware. First Place Parade entry was awarded to Knockavilla Parents Association, Second Place to Clonoulty – Rossmore Vintage Club and Best Youth Category was given to John the Baptist Boys National School. The committee of Cashel St. Patrick’s Day Parade would like to congratulate the winners of this year’s parade, all parade entries and acknowledge the effort the shops went to in creating a bright and vibrant day for everyone.
