After two years in the office, President Paul Monks, handed over the chain of office to Marie Gayson, who was receiving the honour for the second time.
Marie joined Cashel Lions club in 1998 and holds the distinction of being the first lady member of what was then an all male club. She was elected president in 2003-4. District Governor Liam Lyons, who has been the head Lion in the District for the past 12 months and who is coming to the end of his year in office, attended the event with his wife, Anne. Also present were three members of the Dursley Lions Club and their partners. Dursley is near Cheltenham, England and has been twinned with Cashel since 2005. The Dursley Lions arrived on Friday and stayed as guests of the Cashel Lions for the weekend.
