In a letter addressed to Cllr Tom Wood and others in relation to their appeal against the decision of Cashel Town Council to grant planning permission to ALDI for a development at Indaville, Boherclough, Cashel, an Executive Officer with An Bord Pleanala writes, “It is a statutory objective of the Board to ensure that every appeal received is determined within 18 weeks beginning on the date of receipt of that appeal.

“Where it appears to the Board that it would not be possible or appropriate to determine a particular appeal within this period, a notice must be sent to the parties in accordance with the Act.

“The Board hereby serves notice that it will not be possible to determine the case within the statutory objective period due to the complexity of the issues involved. The Board now intends to determine the appeal before April 26th and will take all such steps ... to ensure that the appeal is determined before that date.”
