Ballingarry

Santa - Santa is coming to Ballingarry on Saturday, December 8th at 8 o’clock (after evening Mass). Santa will be turning on the Christmas street lights and the tree lights. Everybody will have the opportunity to place a Red Bow on the Tree on the night to remember those who are not with us this Christmas.

Local Musicians will be playing at the tree lighting. Refreshments will be served in Amby’s for everybody afterwards. Come along to Ballingarry village for this special occasion and please let others know.

Tidy Towns 2012 - Ballingarry Tidy Towns would like to thank all the Volunteers who have helped with the planting of the trees on The Commons Road. Hopefully next week the 3 Picnic Benches will be put at the front of the G.A.A. Field and the 2 at the Old Graveyard.

The Christmas Lights were put up last Saturday. We had a huge turnout of Volunteers, from the village and beyond, to help on the day, and many Community Members provided refreshments for the volunteers. A big thank you to all who helped in any way, especially Lilly for the hot cuppa (mugga), and Tommy for the use of his cherrypicker. This year a large natural tree was planted at the Village Corner. This will act as our Christmas Tree for the duration of the festive season. Lights will be put on it at the weekend. As a remembrance to those who are not with us this Christmas each member of the community will be welcome to place a Red Bow on the Tree. Fr. Quirke will bless the Tree and the lights on the 8th December. Santa will turn on the lights. He will bring his mail box and all kids can give him their letters.

Old School, The Commons - The Old School are holding their Annual Christmas Fair on December 9th from 2 - 6pm. Music lessons have proven very popular with only a limited number of places available on our tin whistle, banjo, bodhran, guitar and accordian classes on Wednesday nights from 6.30pm to 9 pm at a charge of €5 per class. We would like to thank those people who have left in unwanted books to the School in order to develop a borrow and return for people interested in reading. If you have books to add to our collection we would really appreciate them. For those of you who would be interested in giving craft classes we would like to hear from you.  We are planning to provide craft classes to those interested in taking up new crafts in the New Year. Kindly contact any committee members or email oldschoolcommons@gmail.com regarding any of the above items.
