Artist Michael Fortune is currently seeking households with traditional dressers across County Tipperary

The Dresser Project is a new body of work being conducted by Michael throughout the counties of Tipperary, Mayo, Waterford, and Carlow for their 2015 Bealtaine Festival Programme.

Starting in May, Michael will travel to each county documenting their particular dressers through a combination of photography, film and story. Michael recently visited Cashel Day Care Centre during the week and met with staff and clients from the centre. This introductory meeting proved very successful in beginning the process of research into traditional dressers in County Tipperary with many stories and memories shared.

The foundation for the artists particular interest in this subject stems from his own recently deceased 103-year-old Grandmother’s dresser and how the constantly evolving and ever-changing displays reflect the experiences, lives and values of their keepers.
