Music and song delight the audience at platform ceili on Toome farm

The platform céilí on the farm of Seán O’Farrell near Toomevara during Heritage Week was a wonderful evening of dancing and music with Ann Cantwell, banjo; Michael Searson and Pat Devereux, accordions, and Eddie Whelan on guitar and vocals arrived.

The platform céilí on the farm of Seán O’Farrell near Toomevara during Heritage Week was a wonderful evening of dancing and music with Ann Cantwell, banjo; Michael Searson and Pat Devereux, accordions, and Eddie Whelan on guitar and vocals arrived.

They were joined by harpists Muireann Dwyer, who came second at Fleadh Cheoil na hEireann in the U18 competition, and Síofra Thornton. The dancing was interspersed with songs from Margaret Carr, Rebecca Johnson, Helen Deane, who has recently released a CD, A Dream Come True, Tom Fahy and Maura Tierney. Two young local dancers Joanne O’Farrell and Casey O’Rourke entertained the audience with their step dancing, as did Thurles dancer Jerry Loughnane. Dominic Farrell lightened the mood with his yarns. After Seán’s thank yous, he invited everybody all to his home for refreshments. The MC was Maureen Culleton
