On this weekend we also hope to host an U/12 hurling tournament, field day and hopefully a re-enactment of a Fair Day. We’re also looking at the possibility of holding a fun walk along the Islands walk route. More details to follow.
To date we have 350 families joined up as members of our local Community Alert Organisation. At present all the mobile numbers are now downloaded on a spread sheet so that they may be used by our committee and by an Garda Siochána. A decision is now eagerly awaited from the Garda Commissioner on how best to advance this initiative nationwide. We expect this decision to be known shortly. In the meantime watch out for cars /vans acting suspiciously in our vicinity. We encourage you to note the vehicle number, colour, make and number of persons in it. Please phone this information to our local Garda office (056) 8831133 or (086) 8580628. The contact number for our 24 hour manned Garda Office is Kilkenny Station (056) 7775000. During the Summer months we encourage households to install alarms, improve locks on doors and farm gates and if possible put in CCTV cameras.
