G.A.A. Walking Track - The lovely new track in our G.A.A. Ground is almost complete. Due to electricity and insurance costs we are asking anyone using this new facility for €20 per year to cover expenses. For this amount you become a social member of the Golden/Kilfeacle G.A.A. Club.

Community Alert Text Messaging - A very successful meeting was held in the Community Hall, Golden on Monday last. It was decided to go ahead with setting up the text alert messaging service. T hanks to the local G.A.A. Club who has set the ball rolling by donating €1000 towards the cost of some of the signs. All houses in the parish will be visited over the next three weeks to collect mobile phone numbers of those wishing to join ‘text alert service’. We also intend setting up a GPS Mat of the entire community which will enable the fire and ambulance services to go direct to your location.

Festival News - Many thanks to Eamonn Ryan, Golden sponsoring our Bansha Queen, Jacqueline Walsh. The Bridge House, Golden sponsoring our Cashel Queen, Rebecca Minogue. The Rovers Bar, New Inn sponsoring our New Inn Queen, Melissa Cope. Also sincere thanks to all who are turning up twice a week cutting timber for our timber auction. Your help is invaluable and really appreciated by all on the festival committee.

Saturday, 1st June at our Island event on the Suir, Golden N.S. will perform some songs based on the festival and Golden and Thomastown N.S. will give us some traditional music performed by the pupils. The festival committee have three weekends away and three huge hampers to raffle. Tickets will be on sale on the Island on Saturday night and in the field at our family day on the Sunday. Don’t forget our wheelbarrow race on the bridge Saturday, 1st June. Our Juvenile G.A.A. club will have a duck race on the Suir on the same night. Special reminder about our Sean nos and set dance workshop on Saturday, 1st June in G.A.A. gym from 11am. Learn Sean nos dance or a set dance from Michael Cooney, Bru Boru and world class dance champion, all ages welcome, info from (087) 3144005. Fun dog show on Sunday, 2nd June at 2.30pm in G.A.A. field, all dog classes welcome. Info from (086) 1999881. Music in all pubs over weekend of festival, Queen contestants will attend all events.
