Graveyard Masses - Mass will be celebrated in the Old Church Graveyard on this Wednesday, 25th July at 7.30 p.m. Fennor Graveyard Mass on this Thursday, 26th July at 7.30 p.m. and in the Church Graveyard on Friday, 3rd Aug, at 7.30 p.m.
Meeting - Public Meeting in Ballingarry Community Centre on Wednesday 25th July 2012 at 8.00pm to formulate the plan about the restoration of the derelict corner at the crossroads of the village. Come along and help us.
Tidy Towns - We are continuing to ask each and everyone, young and old, to be litter conscious. If it’s your litter, please take it home with you. If you create rubbish, please dispose of it properly. Thank you for your help.
Famine 1848 Walk - This year’s Famine 1848 Walk takes place on Saturday, 28th July at 3 p.m. The Walk will be led by Parish Priest of Ballingarry, Fr. Derry Quirke. The walk commemorates all those who died during the Great Famine and the 1848 Rising which took place in Ballingarry in the middle of the Famine. The Rebel Leaders were transported to Van Diemen’s Land. The Walk will begin at the National Flag monument in The Commons and proceed to the Famine Warhouse. The distance of 1 and a half miles will be covered at an easy pace and all are welcome to participate in this informal event or to gather at the house. This is the seventh year of this annual event which has become a parish occasion. At the end of the Walk, light refreshments will be served in the Tea Room. The Walk takes place, hail, rain or shine on the last Saturday in July, the day of the Rising.
Cúl Camp - Kelloggs Cúl Camp takes place in the G.A.A. Field from the 30th July until the 3rd August from 10 a.m. to 2.30 p.m. daily. Everyone who takes part will receive a full kit and bag. 1st child E55, second child E45, 3rd child E40. Crutch Collection - In aid of The Jack and Jill Foundation ‘Crutch Appeal’, the Millennium Famiy Resource Centre, Glengoole will have a crutch collection day on Friday, 27th July. So if you have any old crutches or mobile phones or ink cartridges etc., offload them on Friday, 27th.
Thanks - The Commons Committee would would like to thank all those who contributed in helping to make the weekend of celebrations so successful. A special word of thanks to our sponsors, those who made donations and bought raffle tickets. We are very grateful to the people of the village and surrounding areas who helped in the running of the Céilí, the vintage show and the musical celebration for Roundy Lawlor. As this was such an enjoyable experience, plans are already in place for next year’s festivities. If anyone would like to visit the school and view the photographs and mining artefacts the opening hours are 9.30am to 1pm (Mon - Fri).

Community Games - Congratulations to our U/12 Community Games Skittles team who, representing Tipperary, defeated Cork in the semi-final and Limerick in the final. They now go forward to the National finals in Athlone on the 18 & 19th August next. Team: Stephen & Lauren Cleary, Louise Lawlor, Daniel Lyons, Aaron & AJ Dunne. Manager Jesse Donovan. Representing us at the Community Games Athletics National finals will be Aoibhe O’Shea who runs the 800m final on the 25 & 26th Aug.
