Thurles Fianna Fáil would like to thank everyone who contributed to the national collection for the Republican Party at Masses across the electoral area recently.

Thurles Fianna Fáil would like to thank everyone who contributed to the national collection for the Republican Party at Masses across the electoral area recently.

On request from the parish the collections were not taken up in Thurles town and some other parishes as the collection date conflicted with the national collection for the Eucharistic Congress. The Thurles Cumann will instead be holding a Table Quiz in the Arch Bar, Liberty Square on June 8th to give an opportunity to contribute to the party.

The Selection Convention to select a nominee to fill the seat on Thurles Town Council vacated by Gerard O’Brien will now be held on Thursday, 24th May in the Arch Bar. All members of Thurles Cumainn are requested to attend and will receive letters regarding same in the coming week.

Glowing tributes were paid to former Cllr. O’Brien who had to step down last month following his appointment as State Solicitor for North Tipperary. Members of the Thurles Cumainn thanked Gerard for his service to the town and wished him the best in his new role.

The Cumainn discussed and the upcoming referendum on the Stability Treaty and called on people to put aside their anger over the Government’s broken promises and support the Treaty.
