Public Meeting - A public will take place on Monday night October 17th in Rathcabbin Hall at 8.30p.m. The meeting will address the closure of the bogs in the area and the three North Tipperary Dail members Noel Coonan (F.G), Alan Kelly (Lab) and Michael Lowry (Ind) have been invited to attend along with the three members of the European Parliament Sean Kelly, Brian Crowley and Phil Prendergast. It is expected that this meeting will draw a large crown of concerned people to the village.

A.G.M. - Rathcabbin Players Annual General Meeting will take place in Rathcabbin Hall on Tuesday night October 18th. at 8.30p.m. Anyone wishing to get involved whether on stage or behind the scenes are invited to come along. Everyone welcome.

On Pilgrimage - The Eucharistic Congress Bell will be on pilgrimage to our region on Tuesday 18th. October. A Healing Service with anointing of the sick will take place in Ardcroney Church at 3p.m. The bell moves to St. Mary’s of the Rosary Church, Nenagh for a ceremony starting at 7p.m. Exposition of the Blessed sacrament and Silent Prayer from 7.30 to 9.00p.m. Mass will be celebrated at 9p.m. Everyone is welcome. Lorrha parishioners may assemble at Tesco car park between 6.15 and 6.25pm if they wish and walk as a parish group from there to the Church along with other parish groups accompanying the bell.

One Hour - Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament continues every Saturday afternoon in the Parochial House from 3 to 4 p.m.

Bag Packing Reminder - Lorrha Development / Tidy Towns are looking for volunteers who can spare two hours of their time to help with fundraising bag packing in Tesco of Nenagh on Friday 21st and Saturday 22nd October from 11a.m. to 6p.m. Many thanks to those who have come forward and offered their help, but more people are needed. If you can help please give your preferred time to any member of the committee or call Mary Coen at (090) 9747972 or Rose Mannion at (086) 8647166. All help will be appreciated. All money raised goes back into the village.

Used Clothing Collection - Lorrha Development/Tidy Towns will be holding a used clothes collection on election day Thursday October 27th from 9a.m. to 9 p.m. and again on Saturday November 5th from 11a.m to 4pm. You can bring your unwanted clothes either in a bag provided or in your own bag, to the collection points which are Lorrha Hall and outside the Church in Rathcabbin (Kelly’s side). All money raised goes back into the village.

Bags will be provided for the disposal of any unwanted clothes and anyone wishing to avail of the free bags can contact any member of the committee or call Rose Mannion at (086) 8647166. All money raised goes back into the village.

Christmas Market & Auction - Great interest is shown in the forthcoming Christmas market which will take place on Sunday December 4th in St. Ruadhan’s Community Hall, Lorrha from 2p.m. There will be plenty of variety on offer and many Christmas gifts, decorations etc. for all. Santa Clause will arrive to his brand new winter wonderland grotto where he will meet all the boys and girls. A raffle will also take place for a lovely food hamper. Tickets are now on sale at 2 euro a line. Anyone wishing to enter a stall in the market can contact any member of the committee or call Mary Walsh on (090) 9747196.

An auction of ‘Promise of Work’, fuel and fodder will also take place on the day. Going under the hammer will be trades such as baby sitting, carpentry work, odd jobs etc. Anyone wishing to donate a ‘promise of work’ for the auction or fuel, fodder etc. can contact any member of the committee or call Louis McCormack at (086) 8493595. All money raised goes back into the village.

Volunteers Required - Anyone wishing to help out with any of the above events is invited to a meeting in Lorrha Hall on Wednesday night October 19th at 8.30p.m. or contact any member of the committee mentioned above.

All Star Nomination - Congratulations and best wishes is extended to Patrick ‘Bonner’ Maher who has being nominated for a hurling all-star. We wish him well and hope he receives this prestigious award on Friday night 21st October in The City West. Well done Bonner.

Sympathy - Sympathy is extended to the extended Sullivan families on the death of Mary Jane Knowles nee Sullivan of Grange, Lorrha who died on Sunday 2nd October in hospital in Dublin at the age of 96. Mary Jane moved to Dublin as a young girl where she met and married her first husband and together they ran a successful hotel business. Following his death she moved to Bray and set up home there with her family. She was always very active up until the end and was cycling her bike up to a couple of years ago. She used the gym regularly too which she did until recently. She was a regular visitor to Grange while her sisters Delia and Margaret and brothers Paddy and Timmy (Tiger) were alive.

She was predeceased by her only daughter in 1983. She will be sadly missed by Ruane & his family, her cousins, neighbours and many friends in Bray and Lorrha alike.

After funeral Mass on Tuesday October 4th. funeral took place in Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, Bray. May she rest in peace.

Gratitude - The parishioners of Lorrha C.O.I. wish to thank everyone who contributed to the Harvest Thanksgiving Service which was held recently. A total of 580 euro was donated to North Tipperary Hospice.

Birthday Greetings - Congratulations is extended to Theresa Dunne Walker, The Ferry Inn, Lorrha on the occasion of her birthday on Sunday last. Theresa celebrated the occasion with family and friends on Sunday evening. Well done Theresa.

Apostolic Work Society - Lorrha Apostolic Work Society will resume their work classes for the Missions on Thursday nights commencing Thursday 13th. of October at 8p.m. in Lorrha Hall. New members welcome.

Come Dancing - Old time dancing continues this Friday night in Lorrha GAA clubhouse with music provided by Brian McDermott from 9.30p.m. to 12.30p.m.

Good News For Families - The Community Mothers Programme(North Tipp Community Services) offers (a) home visits to a mother following the birth of a baby (b) an opportunity to attend a Parent, Toddler and Baby Group in the locality.  In this parish, there are 2 Parent, Toddler and Baby Groups each week, both facilitated by the Community Mothers Team.

(1) Rathcabbin Group meets each Tuesday morning in Rathcabbin Hall from 10.30am-12 noon. All welcome

(2) Lorrha Group meets each Thursday morning in Lorrha Hall from 10.30am-12 noon. All welcome.
