Laides Football - U12B Shield Ladies Football Final - Cappawhite 3-13; Galtee Rovers 0-1
The Cappawhite U12 ladies contested this final on a damp Saturday morning last in Sologhead. The Cappa ladies were first out of the blocks and never stopped until the final whistle. They were solid in defence, controlled the midfield and the forwards created and took their chances.
However credit must be given to the Bansha girls who kept the heads up right to the end. They were unlucky not to have scored more and on one occasion not to have scored a goal when the ball hit off the cross bar.
While reluctant to single out individual players credit must be given to Jean Kelly at centre forward who contributed a whopping 3-9 of the final score. Well done Jean and indeed to the entire Cappawhite team on a great team display. Get well wishes to Ornaith Hennessy who had to be taken off injured during the game.
The victorious team returned to Cappawhite afterwards for a celebration meal in Costello’s. Thanks to the management team of Ann Dargan, Rebecca Cummins and Mary Ita Quirke. Also thanks to the parents who continue to bring the girls to training and matches. Keep it up!
The Cappawhite team are as follows: Katie Kent-Francis, Áine Dargan, Shauna Ryan, Katelyn Fleming, Lauren Hayes, Aoife O’Brien, Eiblis Mcdonald (0-3), Aisling Buckley, Ornaith Hennessy (0-1), Jean Kelly (3-9), Clara Stapleton. Alison Ryan, Emily Thomas, Aoife Walsh, Jill Ann Quirke, Sorcha White, Blahnaid Cummins, Sarah Ryan, Sarah Armshaw and Amy Purcell.
