The hinterland which is punctuated by steep hills and verdant forestry Is a veritable paradise for hill-walkers. From the top of Mogland hill for example (known locally as moakland) the view is simply stunning. On a clear day it is said that you can see six surrounding counties. Other routes for hill-walking include the “Knockalough Walk”and the “Birchhill Trail.”The walks are graded to suit every fitness level and are guaranteed to take your breath away!

The area is becoming extremely popular as a hill-walking centre with ever increasing numbers of outdoor enthusiasts and hill-walkers arriving on the steps of the visitors’ centre every week.
