Tomas MacDonagh Pipe Band 50th Anniversary

Drum Majors Sarah Hoctor and Aoife Newe proudly wear their new red sash.
What a way to start our 50th Anniversary and what a St Patrick’s weekend we had... It started off with the two elder members piping in the Grand Marshall for the blessing of the shamrock on March 16th in Templemore Arms Hotel. The following morning St Patrick’s Day we attended the traditional breakfast at Una’s. We had full and plenty and then it was time to start to tune up.

The following morning St Patrick’s Day we attended the traditional breakfast at Una’s. We had full and plenty and then it was time to start to tune up.

The local residents were treated to the beautiful sound of the pipes and drums. Fall in and we headed on to take our place on the parade. Is there a better feeling than playing the pipes in your own town on St Patrick’s Day and getting a rousing cheer from the local people.

We continued on to Roscrea to play for our many supporters there and again we got a great reception. The following day we paraded in Thurles and also got a great reception. We would like to congratulate piper Noel Stapleton who made his debut over the weekend. On a very cold Easter Monday we attended Mass with our colleagues from the ONE and members of the defences and guests. This was followed by a wreath laying ceremony at the Town Hall.

‘No practice this week’ was the welcome order from the Pipe Major and we were all in agreement. We would encourage all our supporters to contact their friends and relative oversees to try and attend our Gathering in September next. More information on our website: templemorepipeband.ie.

Finally a Happy Birthday to Vourneen and to thank her for all her support over the years.
