Junior Minister Alan Kelly also welcomed the CCTV announcement stating, “I welcome the provision of 66,689 from Dept of Justice through Pobal for the installation of CCTV cameras in Thurles.
This will allow 10 cameras to be installed at critical points as identified by An Garda Siochana, Thurles Town Council and Thurles Chamber.
This will help promote a sense of security amongst the public and business community. Hopefully this will help reduce crime and anti social behaviour as well as help with prosecuting offences where necessary.
I would like to congratulate Thurles Chamber for their work and thank Pobal for their funding, whose chairman and ceo I have spoken to about the matter,” he said.
