Last weekend a group of 14 rockclimbers from Mid-Tipp Hillwalkers headed off to the Burren. Initially there was very enjoyable climbing on the formidable coastal cliffs of Ailladie. Later the group went down in the world on a potholing expedition. This involved an initial abseil followed by a long descent with one tricky downclimb until the spectacular Waterfall Chamber was reached. The group then returned from the darkness of the underworld by a different route with just one tight crawl followed by a slippery climb to reach the surface.
Next Sunday, Oct 2 , there won’t be any potholing or caving but here will be walking with the usual high-level and moderate level walks departing from Cashel firestation at 11am.
Meanwhile we have 80 participants already confirmed and so there are only about 15 places left for our Autumn Charity Challenge, which this year takes place among the unmatched scenery of Cooley and Mourne Mountains and is suitable for all fitness levels.
The event, which takes place from, Fri Oct 14 to Sun Oct 16, costs E189 for the weekend and is open to all, including those without previous hillwalking experience who wish to support the cause of blind people.
If you would like to come please forward an immediate deposit of E60 to Michael Sutton, 17 Willowmere Drive, Thurles 086–4009989; email firstname.lastname@example.org
