Chernobyl Children

We Need Your Help Again.

The Thurles and District Friends of the Children of Chernobyl are starting into the programme for 2011 and would like once again to thank all the people who helped us for the past 17 years and especially last year 2010. We thank all the staff at the Liam Tuohy dental practice, all the staff at Jennings Opticians, the management and staff of the Premier Hall, Thurles Road Warriors MCC, and all the businesses that helped in any way. We thank Tommy Kavanagh for his unstinting support every year.

We thank the people of the Town and area who supported us in our fundraising efforts. The committee offers grateful thanks to the Host families , in Thurles, Moyne, Templetuohy, Littleton, Killenaule , Ballingarry, Callan, Upperchurch, and Fethard who gave their homes and hearts to the Children.

The Thurles Group supports medical projects, eight schools, two half way houses and a community centre in Belarus.

The problems in Belarus do not go away, the area where the Children live is still contaminated with radiation so we once again call on you for help.

We have Children arriving at the end of June and we NEED HOST FAMILIES. Please consider hosting children - it is a very rewarding and educational. The Children NEED YOUR HELP, they are living in contiminated conditions every day and the need a break. We appreciate the difficult times but we hope that you will help.

You will get very good support during the time the Children are here. If you can HELP please contact, Donal on 052 9156482, Ann on 0504 44682, Mary on 052 9154345 or Moira on 0504 22114. If you would like to make a donation to the Group the AC number at the Bank of Ireland Thurles is 40890845.
