Lovely Tessa is only 12 months old and this attractive dog is more than a pretty face. Her eyes glow with curiosity and clearly show an active, inquisitive mind.
She is curious about everything, her surroundings, people, dogs, what you might have in your hands, might it be for her. Highly intelligent and beautifully formed, with exquisite ears and eyes and a perfectly shaped body, this dog is just about perfect. She has almost reached her full height and has masses of potential. Tessa is very good with children, she likes to be with them, perhaps because children too are curious about the world around them. This German Shepherd or Alsatian as they were previously known ( originally from the German French border of Alsace-Lorraine), is house trained, a big bonus. She is a house dog, not a guard dog. She has a kind temperament and greets people as friends. Tessa will sit on command and pose for her photos. A little lead and recall training will add to this girl’s abilities and enable her to be a model citizen. As Tessa is still a young dog, she will quickly learn and soon have you very well trained indeed. The German Shepherd is usually the dog of choice for the Armed Forces, the Gardai,Search and Rescue and, increasingly, the Guide Dogs for the blind and as a helper and best friend for those with disabilities.
It is easy to understand why this is so. Dignified and impressive, calm and easily trained, they are suitable for many roles in society. At the end of the day the one thing they love most is to be one of the family and be involved with family life. Tessa, with her enquiring mind, is capable of being so much more than a family pet but this gentle, trusting dog asks for nothing more than a comfortable bed and a nice fire to lie by. Tessa is polite with other dogs and could live with one provided they are correctly introduced. Tessa is first and foremost, a people dog, she is happiest with people and thoroughly enjoys their company. Thousands of years of breeding by man has produced a human’s best friend.
