Our senior hurlers who were beaten in the South Tipp. semi-final and then failed to reach the last 16 in the County championship travelled to Dublin on Saturday to take part in the Kilmacud 7’s.

Their group games were played in Bray. Here they were opposed by two replacement Dublin teams as Erins Own of Cork and Ballyhaunis of Mayo were unable to take part. Mullinahone started off with two victories as did Craughwell of Galway the other team in the group. In their last group game Mullinahone had a good win over Craughwell. They were now in the quarter finals. Here they were pitted against Thurles Sarsfields one of the tournament favourites. Playing probably their best hurling of the year our lads surprised the Sarsfields and won 4-09 to 4-08. However, this great effort told in the semi-final when Mullinahone lost to Dublin side Cuala Casements who themselves then lost the final to Ballyboden. The ten who represented Mullinahone were Donal Cody, Niall Curran, Alan Curran, Sean Curran, Kevin Bolger, Luke Mullally, Kevin Walzer, Alan Walsh, Edwin O’Meara and Eoin Kelly. Hopefully, the better form shown by the 7’s squad will transfer to our U/21 hurlers who are the only one of our teams still involved in the championship.
